Rebel Mountain is located in Central Vermont on 58 acres of beautiful mountain-side property. Over time, Rebel Mountain will be the home for our herd of beautiful huacaya alpacas.
Rebel, the German Shepherd shown to the right, was our family pet in the 1970's. The mountain was named after Rebel.
The Plan is to breed our alpacas for the finest fiber and the best temperment. Our goal is to raise our alpacas in a family environment on an ideal country farm where the alpacas can thrive.

Vermont, winter, snow, cold and alpacas….. They go together perfectly, as alpacas are natives of the Andes Mountains in Peru. Alpacas frolic in the cold and snow without care since they are wrapped in their own fleece!
About shoulder height, alpacas weigh about 85 to 150 pounds when full grown. Crias (babies) weigh in about 10 to 20 pounds at birth and usually gain about 80 to 100 pounds in their first year. Females are generally ready for breeding at between 18 and 24 months. When successfully bred the female alpaca will carry her cria for 11 ½ months.
At birth the cria will usually start nursing within a few hours of birth and generally tries to stand as soon after birth as it can – wobbly legs and all!
Alpacas are camelids. They are smaller than llamas and camels and their fiber (fleece) is much more valuable. Sweaters knitted from alpaca fiber can go for $250 each or more. The fiber from a well bred alpaca is extremely soft and warm.
